What the Ozempic label says.
Ozempic (semaglutide, Novo Nordisk) is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, including heart and kidney risk reduction in type 2 diabetes. These are the rules printed in its US prescribing information as of September 2026. Your prescriber decides how they apply to you.
- How often
- Once a week, any time of day, with or without meals
- Dose steps
- 0.25 mg for 4 weeks, then 0.5 mg; 1 mg and 2 mg if needed, each after at least 4 weeks; 2 mg maximum
- Missed dose
- Take it within 5 days of the missed day; after that, skip it
- Changing your shot day
- Allowed if doses stay at least 2 days (48 hours) apart
- Where to inject
- Abdomen, thigh or upper arm; rotate each week
- Pen
- Fixed doses only; discard 56 days after first use, even if medicine is left. Don't set a dose by counting clicks
- Half-life
- About 1 week

What does the Ozempic label say about a missed dose?
Take the missed dose within 5 days of the missed day. If more than 5 days have passed, skip it and take the next dose on your usual day.
Can I use GLP Calendar with the Ozempic pill?
Yes. Daily semaglutide tablets get a daily reminder and the 30-minute wait from the label before food, drinks or other oral medicines.
Does GLP Calendar count pen clicks?
No. The Ozempic instructions say not to set a dose by counting clicks, and GLP Calendar only records the fixed doses on your label.
